Espinho, Portugal & Blastic

The students of FACC are joining forces with the students from Escola Secundária Dr. Manuel Gomes de Almeida in Espinho, Portugal to help make the world a better place. Our friends in Portugal invited us to join them on a project called Blastic. Blastic, a blast of plastic! "Blastic" aims to be a “wake-up call” to the problem that excessive use of plastic poses to our health and environment. Students need to make clear differences between the world before plastic and now and to understand what are the consequences of its irrational use. With this project pupils will raise awareness to the impact of plastic in our daily lives and use their creativity to reuse it in a musical and artistic way.

On April 5, 2016 the students were able to meet via skype and got to learn a little bit about each other. The password to view the skype call is Blastic.

Creative Solutions

Throughout the month students worked on projects to contribute to Blastic in their Performing Arts, Visual Arts and Science classes.  In Performing Arts they used plastic materials as instruments to play and perform their very own musical compositions. In Art they decorated two liter bottles and converted them into planters so that the Science students could plant flowers into them and add them to our colorful garden!
